Thom Gunn revived and remembered
On Thursday 26 October the University Library is offering a chance to join poet Clive Wilmer at the launch of his Faber edition of the Selected Poems of Thom Gunn, with a talk, readings, refreshments and a display of Gunn’s correspondence. Wilmer, who is an Emeritus Fellow of Sidney Sussex College, was a friend of Gunn’s for nearly 40 years.
The event, in the Library’s Milstein Seminar Rooms, is free, with no booking required, and seats will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Refreshments will be available from 17.00, and the talk starts at 17.30.
Wilmer is also the curator of an exhibition, ‘Thom Gunn revived and remembered’, which will be on display in the Library’s Entrance Hall from mid-day on Monday 23 October until Saturday 11 November. This will include print and manuscript items from the Library’s own holdings, augmented by correspondence and signed editions from Wilmer’s personal collection.
